Marrakech, Morocco

Marrakech, the red city, bridging Asia and Africa, is an exciting and vibrant stimulation of the senses of sight, sound and smell.

The day is punctuated by the call of the mosque to prayer, but the exotic Djemaa El Fnaa comes to light at dusk, with the alluring mixture of numerous exotic food stalls, and performers, ranging from storytellers to acrobats. Mosques are prohibited to non-Muslims, but the Koutoubia Mosque is visible to all from outside in Marrakech.

By day, explore the atmospheric souks with it's labyrinth of medieval workshops and ironworks, reminiscent of Hieronymous Bosch. Go sightseeing to the Saadian Tombs, the ancient Medersa Ben Youssef, or wander round the Majorelle Gardens, now owned by Yves Saint Laurent. Alternatively you can play golf or go karting in a climate which is harmonious all year round, although chilly winter nights are lighted by warming open fires.
